Meet our 12 Week Challenge winner, Bec Wilson!

To give you some background, choosing our winner is based of SO much more than a physical transformation. It is about a transformation in every area of your life. Your body, your mind and not only your life but the lives of those around you. And that is why Bec was crowned our winner. Read below of her amazing journey and the transformation photos you have all been waiting for!

1. How has THIS 12 Weeks changed YOUR life?

Wow – how to answer this question! This 12 weeks is what I would call the beginning of the rest of my life! I feel like I have learnt so much about living a healthy, happy lifestyle and I am excited to continue implementing all of the things I have learnt. I feel so much more confident in my own skin than I have felt in such a long time and I feel so empowered to be able to make the changes that I so desperately needed to make in my life. Through the online meal plans, I now have a repertoire of healthy (and delicious!) meals that I can go to for my meal prep each week. I have not once felt hungry or deprived, and I have very much stuck to the 80/20 rule during this challenge. By rewarding myself on occasion, I feel that I have been able to achieve long-lasting results. I am stronger and fitter than I have ever been and then there’s also the little bonus that none of my clothes fit me anymore! Through the support network at the Hub I have been able to achieve all of the goals that I set myself at the beginning of the challenge (and more), and probably the biggest thing for me – I have had next to no anxiety symptoms for the majority of the challenge. My anxiety was crippling – it effected my work and my relationships on a daily basis. I never wanted to go anywhere and I felt nervous whenever I did anything that was an ‘unknown’. While losing 18kgs and 54cms sounds like such an amazing achievement (and of course it is), the fact that my anxiety is gone has been the best part of all! The seminars and online readings/videos/posts have helped me to become a more positive person, and my mindset has definitely changed for the better!

2. What issues/struggles have you had to overcome that may have had an affect on your challenge?

My anxiety was definitely the biggest struggle I faced when I started this challenge. It is incredible how much you say no to when you aren’t feeling confident in your body. I have always had that negative self-ego where I tell myself that ‘I’m not good enough’ or ‘I can’t do it so I may as well give up’, but the seminars and the support at the Hub helped me to shut out that negative voice and remind myself why I started this journey in the first place. Even completing the challenge days was hard. The 1000 steps day and the Lilydale Lake Fun Run were so far out of my comfort zone – but I did them… BOTH! Another struggle for me has always been work-life balance. As a teacher, I was working 60+ hour weeks for the last few years and I knew that I couldn’t keep that up. Now I schedule in my workouts for the afternoons which means that I have to leave work at a reasonable time to get the Hub. I also used the structured days of my job to help me stick to solid routines with my eating. I made sure that I meal prepped for breakfast, recess, lunch and afternoon tea every day which meant I could eat at about the same time each day and be consistent! What seemed like such huge struggles for me12 weeks ago have now become so manageable – and this has left me with the ability to enjoy life so much more!

3. How has this 12 Weeks changed you families life, or your partners life?

One of the best things about the past 12 weeks is the positive effect that my lifestyle change has had on my family! We no longer keep junk food in our house so my fiancé started following my meal plans too. He saw how happy I was after being at the Hub so he also decided to join a gym! He has lost 14kgs in the past 12 weeks and we constantly encourage each other to reach our fitness goals. He has now inspired his brother to get on board too, and they are running a little fitness comp between them to stay motivated! (So cute!) Completing the challenge has also had a positive effect on my mum. She jumped on board with the healthy eating about a month ago and has lost nearly 7kgs! This means so much to me because as a diabetic, she really needs to look after her health! I have also been completing the home workouts on weekends with my sister and my brother at their houses which has been so much fun (and a bit competitive! Haha!) My brother is a very fit footballer so he loves pushing my sister and me to go as hard as we can!

4. How do you feel in yourself now, compared to the beginning of this 12 weeks?

So much more confident! This challenge has changed my life forever! I constantly get comments and questions from my friends and family telling me how good I am looking and asking how I have done it. I feel fitter and stronger and have been able to up my weights and reps in all of my fitness assessments so far. I have so much more of a ‘can do’ attitude now, not to mention that I feel so much more energised and less anxious! I now know that consistency is the key and that will help me for the rest of my life. I also feel proud that I can be a better role model for my students at school, and I am practicing gratitude so much more than I used to. I have started visualising my ‘perfect-life movie’ before bed each night, and the thought of shopping for wedding dresses is actually beginning to excite me – 12 weeks ago the thought of trying on a wedding dress made me feel so depressed!

5. What is your next goal?

My first goal is to complete the next 12 week challenge. Now that I have dropped so much weight in the first 12 weeks, I would like to work on the strength and fitness side of it! I am hoping to drop at least another dress size by the end of the challenge (which happens to take me to the weekend of my engagement party – hello feeling comfortable in a dress for the first time in a loooooooooooong time!) I have also inspired another friend to join the next challenge so I am looking forward to completing the journey with her. I will also be working with the Naturopath Kristen to try to regulate my hormones and work on the inside as well as the outside! I suppose to sum it all up, my ultimate goal is to continue my healthy, anxiety-free lifestyle. To feel happy and confident in everything that I do and to continue to inspire my family, friends and students. Ultimately, I want to feel AMAZING on my wedding day in September of next year! My journey is by no means over… It really has just begun… But I have the tools, resources and support to be able to be the best version of me thanks to Belinda, Ben and all of the ladies at the Hub!
